Projecto Heleda is not a traditionally conceived group but is rather a cooperative effort under the leadership of Francesco Bennardis, who originated and created the project. Everything revolves around the idea of injecting
tango and bossa music with strongly contaminating influences derived from other musical genres with the aim of amalgamating diverse experiences into a single language. According to Projecto Heleda, there is no ideal musical language but rather an initial matrix, in this case of Brasilian and Argentinian origin, reinterpreted through western styles and influences. The project emerged from the desire to insert style codes and structures coming from other musical forms, into an original repertoire with a strong tango influence, for example using improvisation and modal scales. Projecto Heleda's music is elaborated using a “classical” structure within which various frequently contrasting elements are combined: samplers and loops, rarified guitars which mingle with the improvisations of the accordion, the piano which alternates with the Rhodes piano, tango rhythms played in contrast with the drums and the sampler, obsessive melodic rhythms mingling with hypnotic harmonies.
